Graceful Explosion Machine isn't a complicated game with a heavy plot. This is a simple game with fast paced action. Join The Gamers Lounge as we play this horizontal shooter and ask why is it so much fun?
One of the first things players will notice is how small the levels are. Gamers are piloting a small ship with only 4 weapons. The weapons include homing rockets, a energy sword, a blaster, and a sniper beam. Players can fire their weapons as much as they want but they need to keep an eye on the energy meter which can run out. Each weapon has the perfect situation to use it in. The energy sword is best used when players are surrounded by enemies. The homing missiles are a great way to keep the combos going. The sniper beam does a lot of damage and reaches across the screen. I found myself using the standard blaster and the energy sword the most. There is one objective in the game, destroy everything on screen and rack up giant combos.
Enemies come from both directions and they never change from level to level. There is nowhere to hide. The action gets very frantic and colorful, players can flip and dash their ship to avoid enemy fire. I spent about 3 hours playing the game and I finished it.
Graceful Explosion Machine has tight and easy to use controls and the music fits the mood of the game well. I thought the game would have more to it. I expected there would be boss fights but there weren’t any. The game reminds me of Defender with the art style of Geometry Wars. The only story present is a brief introduction. If you are one of those gamers that cares about racking up high scores on leaderboards than this is the game for you.
The graphics are nice and colorful and there wasn’t hardly any slowdown when the action got frantic. There are challenge levels which are unlockable if you compete against friends. The price is decent for a this short but fun game. I just wish there was more to it.
Pros:
-Fun and bright graphics
-Easy to play
-Fast paced with tight controls
Cons
-Short
-No Story
-Levels have no variety
