July's Garage Sale Finds
The weather has been getting warm. 90-100 degrees every day for the last week. This means yard sales are starting at 6 or 7 and ending at 10 am. This hasn't stopped some people from getting out there and hunting, myself included. Here is what I have found in July so far:
I got pretty lucky when I went to an estate sale on a Friday where the guy was selling stuff from storage lockers. He had games listed in the ad. I saw an Atari 2600 for $30, an OG Xbox for $40, a semi-working fat ps2 for $15 and an assortment of PS1, PS2, PC, and Xbox games. As I was picking out PS1 games priced at $1 or less, I spotted a Dreamcast in a box behind other stuff. It was marked $10 and came with a few controllers and one game. There was also a GameCube with a power cord for $5. Between this and a few ps1 games I spent $21.
I went to another sale with overpriced DS and 360 games. I got New Super Mario Bros for $10. I thought it was worth mentioning the same week I found a guy selling a modded Wii with several good games for $150 on Facebook. He was willing to part with the games separately, so for $60 I got Zelda Twilight Princess on Wii and GameCube, Pikmin 1 and 2 for Wii, Okami for Wii, Mario Kart Double Dash for GameCube, New Super Mario Bros for Wii, Metal Slug Anthology for Wii, Metal Arms for GameCube, and Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 for GameCube.
This last weekend I went to a few more yard sales. I didn't find much; a GameCube power brick and a GameBoy Player disc for $3. I missed out on some DS games, but I did get a few DVDs and Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 for 360 for $10. I also found De Blob for Wii for $2. I also stopped on another sale on the way home and picked up a 30GB iPod for $5 and a copy of Kirby and the Crystal Shards for N64. As the heat has picked up in the last month, the sales are less and less. There might not be very much to find this next month.
Tip of the week: bring water and double check your directions.
