E3 Always Has Winners and Then There is Ubisoft
E3 is over halfway done and gamers have been wowed and some of us have been disappointed. Microsoft blew gamers away, and Sony had some great announcements that made people scream and cry. Bethesda made gamers spend money, EA impressed with SW Battlefront, and Ubisoft sort of made a sad “wah, wah” trombone noise.
Don’t get me wrong, there was some good announcements such as the follow up to last year’s South Park Stick of Truth which was a great RPG. The new one features super heroes and more South Park humor.
They showed off a little of For Honor, which looks like an interesting action game. They talked about the new content coming to The Crew. The Division was teased and gamers saw gameplay. That looks fun and it's coming out March 2016.
Gamers saw too much of Just Dance 2015. Looks like it will have a music based subscription this time around. We would like 10 minutes of our lives back. Rainbow Six Siege was shown and it looks entertaining. The game is very focused on teamwork and co-op play.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was shown off and it looks good. Gamers who are fans of the series should really enjoy this next entry. The Victorian era is a time frame that games are not set in enough. Gamers also got to see Anno 2205, a city building game, Trackmania Turbo and Ghost Recon Wildlands, which is a huge open world shooter.
The games that were shown were interesting, but none of them made me want to throw money at the company like Bethesda, EA, MS, or Sony. Outside of South Park I don’t personally have a lot of interest in Ubisoft right now. Where’s the next Far Cry game already?
If I could give Ubi a score at E3, I’d say a C-/D+. They should have cut down Just Dance to 5 mins and showed more AC Syndicate at the very least.
