Everyone is familiar with Pong in one way or another! Pong has been around since the 1970s, but Pong Quest is an interesting twist on the traditional Pong game. The Gamers Lounge has taken a look at this game and has covered the good and the bad.

Let’s start with the plot, there isn’t much. Players play as a generic Pong paddle who can be decked out in clothes and accessories. I’ve always wanted to see a paddle wearing a hat. Players meet the king and must traverse the dungeon and defeat other pong paddles. The game is chock full of bad jokes and sketch humor. The dungeons are all random, just like rogue-likes and if you die you go back to the main castle. The good news is when players jump back into the dungeon after dying they pick up where they left off.

Players run around and battle other pong paddles. There is volleying back and forth, trying to score. Special items are present and some of these include curveballs and bursts of flame. There are some unique boss battles, but by the end of the game I was tired of Pong. Trust me, the idea of playing Pong for more than an hour or two at a time is not ideal. The sound effects and music don't add too much to the game. The dialogue isn't great, if you can ignore the humor.

I think the big selling point behind the game was to make an RPG with an old school twist. Throw in some lowbrow humor and there’s the game. But there really isn't enough here to keep gamers interested or want to play through a 2nd time. There is some multiplayer fun and it's neat to see Atari take an older franchise and try to make a game with a modern twist. At $14.99 it's not a terrible price, but a $10 price would be more ideal for fans and newcomers.

Thanks to the publisher for letting us review the game.
