Garage Sale Finds The Weeks of 8/1 and 8/7
As July was coming to a close the garage sale finds were dropping off. It could have been the heat or something else. I was busy and didn't get to go out at the end of July. But come early August I was back on the hunt
The weekend of August the first was a big disappointment, all the sales that advertised games had nothing. I did randomly go to a neighborhood sale and find a sealed Xbox Wireless controller which I found out fetches a pretty penny.
The weekend of the 8th was much better. There were a lot of sales advertising games. I decided I would go the the closest ones first and make my way over to the sale advertising old games
The first sale I went to had a number of 360, Wii, SNES, PS3, PS1, and a few Xbox One games. Everything was priced fair. None of the 360 or SNES games stood out. I did grab Call of Duty 4 for PS3 as it's a great game. I grabbed Resident Evil 4 for Wii, Rayman 1 for PS1, and Metroid 3 for Wii. All of these will be trade fodder most likely and the total cost was $10.
The next sale I hit had a massive collection of SNES games. All of them were cart only Super Mario World, Ren and Stimpy, Zelda, Mario Kart, and many more, prices were ebay’ish but he said he was moving and was willing to make a deal. Strangely I walked away and normally I would have done some cherry picking.
I stopped by a parking lot sale on my way back to my house. I was pleasantly surprised there were several tables set up and one guy had a pile of Xbox games, an Xbox, a fat PS2, and a GameCube. He would have let the Gamecube go for $15 and I was tempted, but it was something else that caught my eye. There was a Sega Saturn in a rental case and the guy wanted $20.
It was a former Blockbuster rental case and the guy said his Dad must have picked this up. System came with controllers and A/V hookups and one game Virtual Cop. This is the 3rd Saturn I have found in the wild in the 8 years of hunting for games.
When I got it home I noticed there were two Genesis games underneath the system Sonic 1 and 2. The question is what will I do with the Saturn. All the good games are costly. I’ll probably hang onto it for a bit and have some fun with it.
