Despite a ton of new games coming out and a looming backlog, there are games that draw us back in. Even if we’ve run though them twenty times, there’s something about these classics that makes us dust off the old console and play like a day hasn’t even passed. We asked our Gamer’s Lounge community Facebook page what their “evergreen” games were, and here are their responses:

Dexter: World of Warcraft. No matter how hard I've tried to quit completely, I always end up right back at it again. It's relaxing, and for me is basically the video game equivalent of comfort food at this point.

Robert: Amplitude for PS2 and PS4

Hayley: Harvest Moon lol

Jonathan: Shenmue I & II

Ben: Donkey Kong Country 2

Abby: Ceaser 3

Erin: Any of the Dragon Age games. Skyrim.

Rob: Mass Effect 2

Barry: Ratchet and Clank, Super Mario World, A Link to the past

Ryan (me): I frequently come back to Twisted Metal 2. It was the perfect balance in terms of gameplay, and I mastered just about every character. I usually do one "world tour" a quarter for old time's sake. Also, Tetris and Donkey Kong from OG Game Boy. That particular Tetris feels the most right (new ones allow rotation after landing that you can literally climb with) and that DK is a penultimate masterpiece.

Sarah: Kirby's Adventure. <3

Maria: Dutch Blitz, Spoons, Blockus, ... 😁 (Maria’s one of my friends….not much of an electronic gamer, but the question still stands!)

Travis: Dark alliance. Love the games and the memories

Erik: Resident Evil 4 on PS2, Powerstone 2 on DC, Burnout Takedown on OG Xbox or PS2, Def Jam Fight for NY OG Xbox or PS2, and for a while NBA 2k13 on PS3 (don't ask)

BONUS! We ask questions weekly but sometimes might not get all the answers worth a click within the time limit. Regarding backlog resolutions: Barry wants to finish Persona 5 this year. Niki is going to finally take the plastic off of Diablo and Pokemon for the Switch, Taylor is going to finish Neir Automata, and Derick is going to polish off an old one: he’s finishing Xenogears after 20 years of trying.

BONUS BONUS! We asked what the best gaming Christmas gift you ever got was. Taylor responded: Some jock type got Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1) at a white elephant exchange and I bought it off him for 5 bucks. I’d like to think of it as a gift from the fates.

We also asked what your most anticipated title of 2019 was, but got zero responses. Perhaps people are too busy playing their backlog, Christmas presents, or their “forever games” to worry about the future!
