NEOGEO: A Visual History Book Review
I consider myself an old school gamer. My first video game memories were in the arcades. I remember playing SNK games like King of Fighters and Metal Slug and I always wanted those games at home. One day flipping through Gamepro magazine I read about the Neo-Geo game console that would bring arcade gaming to the home. The system would cost $650 and the games were $200 and up. 27 years later I'm still waiting to get a Neo-Geo. I still love those old games and the history of the console. Thanks to Bitmap Books I can get an in depth look at the visual history of SNK's line of systems and games with NEOGEO: A Visual History.

Bipmap made this book with SNK’s official blessing. It is the definitive English language book you will ever need if you are a NEO-Geo collector or retro gaming fan. Hardcover only, A4 in size and over 400 pages, it covers the entire history of the Neo-Geo brand from 1973 to 2017. With a foreword by Yutaka Noguchi, the book includes interviews with Neo-Geo collectors, as well as people from SNK. The book even includes a master list of every game released on the MVS, AES, and CD.
Anyone who has seen my other book reviews knows the quality that Bitmap puts into their releases. This one is no different. When you hold the book, you feel the weight. The binding employs thread rather than glue, so pages will not come out when opened flat. Metallic gold ink has been used on the cover, spine and throughout. Colors and pictures on the pages stand out in HD quality. You can really see that this was a labor of love.
Overall, this is a must own for Neo-Geo collectors and fans. If you are like me and you collect retro gaming books, this is also a must own. I can’t recommend this book enough.
