2019 Garage Sales Recap
2018 was one of the last great years for yard sales. I decided that I should reflect on 2019 as well. There were some good yard sales in 2019 including a few unexpected and interesting finds. Looking back to 2018 there were some good finds, the huge N64 lot, the neckbeards, the estate sale with nerd stuff and retro PC games and Megaman for the GameGear.
Yard sales usually kick off in early March but 2019 was different, we had gotten a ton of snow at the end of Feb and into early March. I didnt get a chance to go to sales until April. But the first sale i went to in early April I found a Mario Toy Trunk at a random garage sale for $5, I later sold it for $100 to a friend. The trunk was neat but it needed work and it was perfect for a big game room or a display piece in a store.
Moving onto May, I think every time a sale advertises games I will run into competition. This wasn’t true at a sale in early May. They had PS1 stuff, a nice Dreamcast lot, Vita and a PSTV. I brought a lot of cash but not enough I had to leave the CIB Lunar and Grandia II for PS1 for someone else. I did snag the PSOne with a carrying case, screen and a few good games including a long box Twisted Metal and Castlevania SOTN. I managed to get the PS Vita and the Vita TV as well. I wish I had snagged the DC with the crystal yellow controllers but I just couldn't do it.
Other finds into the summer including a 360 E system for $15, multiple copies of Mario Party 8 for Wii, random Wii games and controllers, an OG Xbox for $20 with hookups. I also scored a box of misc DS Lites, DSi and PSP stuff for reasonable, most of that stuff was used for parts. This doesn't count as a yard sale find but while visiting my brother on the other side of the state I hit a pawn shop. Saw a pink DSi XL with a case, managed to bundle this with Robot Taisen Endless Frontier and DBZ Attack of the Sayians for $50
As the summer progressed the yard sales waned. I did managed to score some cheap DS games. I found a Yoshi's Island case, opened it and not only did it have that game it had 5 others in the case. It was a pretty cheap deal. I found someone selling a New 3DS XL with a case and Pokemon Soul Silver for $50. That was a random sale down the street from another sale that had games. It doesn't hurt to look around and down the street for other sales or ask about video game stuff.
The last big find of the summer was at an estate sale with a ton of games and dvds, a friend was there so we split it. There were lots of games missing from cases. There were some neat retro board games and toys as well but I really didn't know what to look for. I got a few misc items. A sealed 4gb 360 brand new in the box for $20, a few misc PS3 games and a CBI Jedi Knight for PC. The last few yard sales I went to in Sept/Oct netted a few misc DS games, a few 360 controllers, nothing too crazy.
Overall it was an okay year for yard sale finds. I didn't see as many and had more random luck this past year.
