Fall and Winter 2017 game pick ups

Garage sale season has been done for a few months now. However, there are still a few things to find. Join Erik with The Gamers Lounge as he details his thrifting and social media finds for the last part of the year in 2017.

The weather has turned grey. This means yard saleing is dead. There are still good deals to find at Goodwill, other thrift stores, and on social media. I have had a few scores the last few months; just enough to tide me over until Spring. I feel as if I may have gone a little overboard finding games this year but you never know when good stuff will show up.

September was very slow and I almost didn't find anything. Picked up a few PS2 controllers and a few games from Goodwill. The best find was at the end of the month when I got Just Dance 2016 and 2017, the new Crash game for PS4, and Mario Kart for Wii for $60 at one of the last yard sales of the year.

In October I had better luck. I managed to find a copy of Kirby's Dreamland Collection for Wii mint condition on Craigslist to replace the battered and wax stained copy I had. October moved on and November; then winter started to creep in. I had some good luck here and there. I got Deadpool and Skyrim Legendary, for PS3 for $10 total. I picked up two different Wii bundles, one for $50 with a few games and another for $15. The $15 one ended up having a broken disc drive. It came with some games and controllers. That’s the risk of buying used from a secondary, non-monitored marketplace.

Toward early November I picked up another fat PS2 for at Goodwill for cheap. I also snagged a pair of wii HD cables . I found a few more PS2 controllers and two GameCube controllers at another Goodwill for around $20. The best score of these crummy months was the $10 PS3 lot I got on Offerup in mid December. I had been messaging the seller and she said I could have everything for $10, not just the Dualshock 3 and Need for Speed the Run. I got those two items and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Plants vs Zombies, Cabela’s Big Game Hunters Pro Hunts, Plants vs. Zombies, GTA IV, GTA Liberty City, COD World at War, Modern Warfare 2, a second  3rd party PS3 controller, and Ratchet and Clank Collection.

There are still good deals out there to be found! Just keep looking. I’ll return next spring with some more finds.
