Garage Sale finds mid April 2017
The last few weeks have been busy with a variety of great finds. Aprile 3rd was a good start, I found a white Wii on Facebook. The seller wanted $25 for the Wii and I talked him down to $20.
More and more yard sales are showing up every weekend. A good example was the weekend of April 7th and the 8th. I went to a garage sale in which a lady had been advertising on Facebook she was a selling a PS2 slim with around 15 games and a few controllers. We chatted about the PS2 and she mentioned it was at a sale on a Friday. Fridays are great, there isn’t a lot of competition on Fridays so I get lucky most of the time. I arrived a few minutes early to the sale and saw the PS2 out in the driveway.
The PS2 had the full setup of Rock Band next to it. I really wasn't interested in dragging Rock Band home in my SUV. But the PS2 slim came with 19 games and three controllers. I was looking through the games and discovered 3 of the games came with memory cards in the game cases. I also noticed a kid picked up a Wii I hadn't seen near the front and put it back down.
I lugged my tub of PS2 stuff over and grabbed the black Wii. The Wii was a 2nd generation which means it doesn't play GameCube. The system came with 3 pink wiimotes and 1 black wiimote. I bundled this together while looking through the 360 games. It was all older stuff, none of it in good shape. I knew the lady wanted $75 for the PS2, Rock Band setup, and the games. I asked if she would take $40 and she said she would. The Wii was priced at $10 and I took it. I wish there was Wii games but I was happy with everything. First good score of the year!
I later found out there was a copy of Resident Evil 3 in that PS2 lot, everything else was pretty common except for Silent Hill 4 and Darkwatch. The finds kept getting better as I moved into the next week.
I picked up a used black 1st generation Wii from a local guy on Facebook. It came with two wiimotes, a red nunchuk and New Super Mario Bros. The system was owned by a smoker and it was terrible shape. I cleaned it up the best I could. The system works fine. Neither of these Wiis had any good virtual console games on them.
I went out this Friday, April 14, but I got a late start. This cost me a good deal. I went to a yard sale advertising games and she had a Wii bundle. Some guy had already scooped it up. It looks pretty good from what I could see, and came with several 1st party games and several wiimotes. I did picked up Lego Marvel Heroes and WWE 2k14 for 360 for $2
At this point I have already offloaded 2 of the 3 Wiis and the PS2 and all its games. I may stop hunting for Wiis at this time unless it's a good deal. I was looking for a $10-$20 system in good shape that I could attempt to mod and I am sure one will come up in the future.
