July's Garage Sale Finds
July was a slow month and I was out of town a lot. This left only a few weekends for garage sales. But I still had good luck and I found a few gems. The season is over halfway done and there is only about 2 months left in my area. There are still plenty of games to be found.
I went game hunting the weekend of July 15th. I went to a local sale where a guy listed retro games. He had a Retron 1 and several NES games. I cherry picked Super Mario Bros 2 for NES. I went to a few other sales where people were advertising games. One sale featured a family moving out of state; I grabbed Lego Marvel for the 360 and Sunset Overdrive for $15. I found out later I overpaid for Sunset Overdrive. I was hoping this sale still had Fallout 4 for sale but I missed out on that since I went to the retro sale first
I went to another sale where there was a 360 listed. The 360 and games had sold when I arrived. There were plenty of Wii games left, so I picked up Black Ops and Mario Kart for the Wii for $12.
The next weekend was a disappointment. Going forward since I had spent all my budget for garage sale finds I need to choose what I purchase wisely. One sale had PS3/Wii games, I thought about them for trade fodder. The two gems were Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros for $15 a piece. I decided to pass.
I went to another sale that listed games. There was an overpriced Wii bundle with terrible games for $75. I also saw a white 1st Gen 360 bundle with assorted OG xbox games for $135. That is a terrible deal. This same sale also had a DS Lite bundle for $35 and I was tempted by that. None of the games were worth more than a few dollars. That being said I will continue to hunt for games until the season ends in the next few months.
I did find a copy of Skyward Sword the other day at Goodwill for $3. That's why you should check every case.
