There can never be enough cute animal platformers. Sheepo is a fun game where players wander through dreamlike levels exploring. The plethora of interesting puzzles, good music, and basic metroidvania elements keeps everything interesting.
The story of the game isn’t complicated. Players are dropped into the role of Sheepo who’s tasked with collecting eggs. The eggs are from six species that might be going extinct. Players will wander levels and solve simple puzzles. The music really drew me in, it has this upbeat funk jazz sound to it. It feels like the tracks don’t repeat themselves as it changes area to area. The other good news is most puzzles aren’t too hard and don't detract from the rest of the game.
Besides the music the game has great controls, navigating and moving around is easy. Sheepo can use orbs to teleport and navigate puzzles. Players can also transform into other creatures as they defeat bosses. There is some backtracking to use these new abilities to get more feathers which you can buy things to help you, like unlocking the map.
Sheepo has plenty of charm and can be a little challenging. There is no combat and there are plenty of checkpoints. The backtracking can get frustrating but this game is a lot of fun and should appeal to almost anyone. I found the game to be pretty relaxing to play and really enjoyed everything it had to offer. A quick note its 15% off right now on Steam making Sheepo $7.64, I would say its a must buy.
Thanks to the publisher for letting us review Sheepo.
