Best of the May Pre-orders
May is going to be a great month for games. There are quite a few notable releases coming out before summer arrives. The Gamers Lounge has taken the time to look at some of the games available to pre-order and point out the best and the worst!
Watch Dogs may be one of the most hyped games coming out this year and it arrives May 27th. There are several stores offering pre-order bonuses. Gamestop is offering the Palace Pack which includes some single player missions and an ATM bonus. Best Buy, Target, and Amazon have similar offerings, with exclusive single player missions and other bonuses. Best Buy will give you a $10 Reward certificate for pre-ordering. UPlay in Europe is adding a Steelbook; something US gamers won't get.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is another big AAA cross platform game coming out in May. From what I played at PAX East this year, the game looks like it will be a lot of fun. Gamestop is giving gamers access to the Doom Beta regardless of what version they purchase. However, Amazon and Best Buy have better deals. Amazon will give gamers the Doom Beta and a $10 gift card. Best Buy will give $20 in reward certificates, the Doom Beta, and a free miniature. Gamers Unlocked Members get another 20% off the game on top of the bonuses, so gamers better pre-order before May 20th.
Another big name release in May is Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U. Nintendo is offering gamers a choice of one of four free Wii U games. Best Buy is offering a $10 GC with the purchase of Mario Kart 8, as well as a $10 reward certificate. I would suggest gamers pick this game up before the end of May. This time around it seems Best Buy has gamers’ interests in mind. It appears Best Buy is taking pre-orders for the Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle and I'm sure Amazon will have this as well.
Niche and non-multi console releases include MLB The Show 14 which is coming out in early May. Gamestop is offering $20 in-game currency. Best Buy has a $10 reward certificate, while Amazon has gamers covered with a cool dualshock 4 skin.
By the time gamers read this, Kirby Triple Deluxe will be out, as well as Mario Golf: World Tour. There are no pre-order bonuses for either game. But Amazon is shaving a few dollars off the price. There is also Drakengaurd 3 for PS3. Amazon is offering a three costume variant, as is Gamestop. Bound for Flame is another interesting RPG coming to 360, PS3, PS4 in early May, but again there are no pre-order bonuses. Transistor is another interesting game I got a chance to see at PAX East. Its coming to PS4 and PC May 20th. The game is from the makers of Bastion and has a cool narration style.
May looks to be a good month for games!
I almost forgot! Don’t forget about the Borderlands 2 Vita. This could be tempting for any gamer who has held out this long to buy a Vita.
